For Jordan Adams, one half of the FTD Brothers, running was never really about the miles. It began as a dash to catch a bus, but over time, it became a way to navigate grief, mental health and an uncertain future.
After losing his mum, Geraldine, to familial frontotemporal dementia (FTD), and discovering he carries the same genetic mutation, Jordan found in running a place to process the things he couldn't control. Now, he's using that same feeling to raise awareness, challenge perceptions and make sure his family's story is heard.
This is a story about loss, resilience and the power of putting one foot in front of the other - not to escape what's ahead, but to find a way to live with it.
Jordan Adams is one half of The FTD Brothers, alongside his younger brother Cian. After losing their mum, Geraldine, to familial frontotemporal dementia (FTD) when he was just 21, Jordan’s life changed forever.
Then, in 2018, he discovered he carries the same genetic mutation that caused her illness.
Since then, Jordan has channelled that experience into something positive, using running as a way to cope with the uncertainty while raising awareness, fundraising and campaigning for families affected by FTD.
Through The FTD Brothers, he’s determined to make more people understand a condition that has had such a huge impact on his family, and to help make a difference for those facing the same reality.
